McCownGordon was selected as construction manager to renovate Unit 15 at the University of Kansas Health System. The newly renovated space became the first dedicated cystic fibrosis unit in the Kansas City Metro. The project includes an extensive remodel of existing hospital space, transforming it into a specialized unit all focused on the patient care. The unit offers 18 beds, respiratory therapy work space, exercise room with gaming capabilities, family area with coffee bar, staff lounge and locker areas, nurse stations, restrooms and waiting areas. Construction also included installation of a new air handling unit and associated ductwork, medical gas system, and pneumatic tube upgrades.
