Eisenhower Middle School

Project Case Study
Susan B. Anthony and Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle Schools originally served as 7th through 8th grade schools. With the growing population in Manhattan, McCownGordon was selected to build an additional 45,000 square foot wing at each school to accommodate moving 6th grade out of elementary schools and into the middle schools.

These new additions added 15 classrooms, and a band and orchestra room that doubles as a storm shelter.

A new locker room was also added that also doubles as a storm shelter while providing a separation of space for the new City of Manhattan Recreation Centers that will be used by the middle schools during school hours and the community outside of school hours. The scope included renovating existing space to provide additional safety and security, updating the media center and administration spaces, and improving classroom functionality with the ever-changing learning environment.
