Totaling more than $11 million, the projects included special pharmaceutical-grade finishes (HEPA filtration, epoxy flooring, prefabricated space), stainless steel, and heavy mechanical and electrical upgrades. The team developed a schedule that renovated the area within a tight three-week time frame and required multiple shifts and construction performed 24 hours/day.
The team took an innovative approach to procurement, needing to secure the specialized pharmaceutical equipment before receiving bids from the trade partner community. This flexible approach helped the team ensure the equipment was onsite when needed and helped to ensure timely project completion, which was actually completed ahead of schedule.
The renovations were completed in very tight spaces, which required additional preparation and pre-planning to ensure they were completed successfully. The team implemented Lean Construction techniques, such as pull planning and just-in-time deliveries to maintain the project site and complete the project on schedule.
