McCownGordon was selected to complete renovations and additions to the Gardner Edgerton High School as part of the bond program. All construction will be completed in the occupied existing high school requiring significant coordination of site logistics and safety, phasing and schedule management.
The addition will add 18 new classrooms for the science department and provide additional space for the performing arts programs. This part of the building will be centered on an atrium with two decorative stair cases. The existing career and technical education shop space will receive extensive renovations to also include a Culinary Arts Program—complete with a restaurant that will be open to the public at times and offer a teaching space for students desiring culinary arts careers. Utilizing a phased construction schedule, the team will minimize disruption and maximize the potential for student learning.
