Kansas City, MO (January 12th, 2026) – McCownGordon announced the promotion of Luke Deets to senior vice president, joining the company’s executive leadership team and underscoring its commitment to growth and expansion.
In his new role, Deets will oversee all public sector and civic work, as well as the education market, in the central region of the country. He will also provide executive oversight for the firm’s Wichita and Manhattan offices.
A 16-year veteran of McCownGordon, Deets has served in a variety of leadership positions. Most recently, he was vice president and business unit leader for the firm’s Kansas City Business Unit. Leading both K-12 and civic markets during his career, he has dedicated his career to community-driven projects that enrich the lives of both present and future residents. His portfolio encompasses a variety of projects such as fire and police stations, justice centers and courts, libraries, community and aquatics centers, and numerous K-12 bond initiatives. Notable projects include the 2020, 2022 and 2025 Bond Initiatives for North Kansas City Schools, the Barney Allis Plaza Redevelopment and hundreds of other educational and community projects.
“I have such a passion for making a difference in the communities where I live and work,” says Deets. “I’m excited to continue driving impact across the Kansas City metro while expanding that impact throughout the Midwest,” he continues.
As part of the leadership team, Deets will play a key role in advancing McCownGordon’s long-term strategic vision. He is also actively engaged in civic leadership and is a current member of KC Tomorrow’s Class 47 and sits on various boards, including the Clay County Economic Development Corporation, Olathe Public Schools Foundation where he is currently the Vice President, and the North Kansas City Schools Industry Executive Council.
“Luke’s energy, collaborative spirit and unwavering commitment to our clients and communities make him an outstanding addition to our leadership team,” Chairman and CEO Ramin Cherafat said. “His exceptional career and proven ability to lead complex, high-impact projects will help propel McCownGordon’s continued growth.”
The promotion underscores McCownGordon’s commitment to promoting from within and creates a ripple-effect of opportunities for other associates. Mitch Binns has been promoted to director and business unit leader, where he will continue leadership of the firm’s Wichita office. Brian Fuemmeler, market leader, continues leadership of the Manhattan office. These strategic moves not only strengthen leadership across the region but also provide additional support and resources to the already exceptional teams in Kansas, ensuring they remain equipped to deliver outstanding results for clients.
