KCI airport renovation

The project included both landside and airside building additions, work and improvements in both secure/sterile and public areas, and the addition of a new (TSA) passenger security screening area.

The team added Common Use Passenger Processing Systems, which were deployed for the first time at KCI, allowing the necessary IT infrastructure for any airline or carrier to use common outbound boarding facilities, gates, counters and passenger boarding bridges (PBB)—a feature formerly limited to a single airline.

The team completed the complex, multi-phased project in an operating terminal facility requiring substantial stakeholder and interagency communication, coordination and cooperation to avoid interference or impacts to current airport operations. The fast-track project included a complex phasing plan to ensure a timely completion.
