Hear it for yourself
“When I think about Helix Architecture, McCownGordon and Dimensional Innovations, that trio of partners have really helped us through the innovative aspects of this facility and every single detail that is going to create the best first impression in the entire country for a campus visit. It’s about recruiting the next generation of KU students. 15-20 years from now when we look back at the Welcome Center I think it will be an invaluable resource for KU. ”
– Heath Peterson | President, University of Kansas Alumni Association
The new Welcome Center’s modern design engages the younger generation helping the university attract the best and brightest in the ever-competitive recruiting race. Potential students are greeted in Traditions Hall, which features a variety of interactive displays and selfie stations that help paint a picture of what being a Jayhawk can be like.
The west exterior’s metal fabric fins functionally act as sunscreens, but architecturally represent rural Kansas’ iconic wheat stalks. The Welcome Center also includes a large lobby, multiple event and presentation spaces and a catering kitchen that can accommodate 200 guests. In addition to the new structure, the team is completing multiple renovations at the adjoining Adams Alumni Center.
