Project Case Study

The collaborative team of McCownGordon, PGAV and Ross & Baruzzini provided design and construction services for the Kansas Department of Agriculture’s (KDA) new laboratory adjacent to their headquarters within the KSU Research Park. The new facility features offices, conference room, break room and laboratory spaces for analyzing meat, dairy, animal feed, fertilizer, pesticides and weights and measures for the KDA.

Construction included extensive earthwork, underground storm detention and the installation of bulk nitrogen gas storage tanks. The facility houses sensitive equipment with tight tolerance for vibration, humidity, temperature and moisture and includes durable, laboratory-grade finishes with acid resistance. Specific spaces within the building required a pre-action fire suppression system making proactive coordination critical. The building’s modern exterior complements the other structures within the research park.

The project team’s focus on schedule, budget and the incorporation of all tenant-required items within the feasibility budget maximized the program for the KDA. As one of multiple projects for the KSU Foundation, the team is proud to continue an unparalleled level of service.
