Shawnee Fire Station No. 74 is located at 53rd Street and Woodsonia Drive in Shawnee. This project is a part of the city’s Capital Improvement Plan, and prepares the City to better serve the growing community in northwestern Shawnee.
The facility includes two drive-through apparatus bays and accommodates a captain and five firefighters. A featured element of the station are the apparatus bays’ bi-fold doors, which add ease of use and increased safety performance for the firefighters. The building’s exterior includes a combination of EIFS, cast stone and brick, designed to fit in with the neighborhood’s aesthetic.

McCownGordon’s preconstruction team worked diligently at the project’s start to help manage the master budget; ensuring that costs for all of the project’s design fees, furnishings and specialty equipment were accounted for in the City’s budget.

Throughout the project, the fire department, in combination with McCownGordon’s team, posted regular updates to a website. Updates including aerial drone footage of the project site generated interest and a positive buzz in the community.
