Project Case Study
The citizens of Blue Springs needed a modernized recreational space to gather. In 2021, the city voted to pass the renewal of the Parks Sales Tax. McCownGordon was selected to work alongside the City of Blue Springs to build a new, 34,000 SF aquatics center.

The proactive approach from the preconstruction team allowed the City of Blue Springs to maximize their budget. The team strategically bid out the aquatics package early to help provide additional value engineering support during preconstruction.

McCownGordon worked closely with the design team to present more than 130 different cost options to ensure the city achieves their desired features for the aquatics center while staying within budget.

As an expansion of the Blue Spring Field House, the aquatics center will include a four-lane lap pool, rock climbing wall, diving platform, leisure pool and spray ground.

The outdoor water park will also include a 40-foot slide tower with four slides, lazy river, wave pool, double surf simulator and observation deck. In addition, the project will provide a new, welcoming main entrance for both the aquatics center and existing field house.

Throughout construction, our team will communicate with the City of Blue Springs to minimize disruptions to the occupied and busy neighboring field house.
