Our Work In and Around Kansas City
USD 223 Olathe West High School | K-12 Construction
McCownGordon is proud of our long-standing relationship with the Olathe School District. The Olathe West High School project was one of the larger opportunities for our team. We provided safety, preconstruction, collaborative delivery, and building information modeling services. The project was recognized across the industry for the quality asphalt and concrete work.
The Olathe West High School spans 375,000 square feet and features:
- flexible classroom space
- administrative offices
- a performing arts/blackbox
theater - a gymnasium with a FEMA storm shelter
- cafeteria
- football stadium
- tennis courts
- soccer fields and track with synthetic turf and competition facility
The school was designed with highly integrated technology and adaptive furniture so teaching spaces could be utilized to meet the individual needs of students more effectively.
McCownGordon has also partnered with the district on more than a dozen new construction and renovation projects.

Olathe Public Schools
Children’s Mercy Research Institute | Science & Technology Construction
McCownGordon is a long-term partner of the Children’s Mercy Research Institute. Currently, the team is constructing their new research institute, which provides state-of-the-art facilities for researchers to discover new ways to treat, diagnose and prevent complex childhood diseases. The facility features wet and dry labs, a conference center, an auditorium, a discovery center, classrooms, a café and business offices. The tower also features a green roof and garden space to create a healthy environment for researchers.

Garmin Headquarters Expansion | Corporate Construction & Industrial
Garmin expanded its corporate headquarters in collaboration with McCownGordon and Gould Evans. We completed the multi-phased, $200 million project while providing safety, preconstruction, collaborative delivery and building information modeling.
The project included a parking garage, a warehouse/manufacturing facility, office space, and associated site work and landscaping. We were able to complete the new parking facility extension while the current garage remained active. The space provides a creative setting for research and development, engineering and industrial design teams.
There is also a fitness center, recreation fields, running trails and an outdoor event space for employee well-being. This expansion has helped Garmin provide for their growing workforce.
