Supporting Campus Growth
The facility was built to provide reliable heating and cooling services to multiple buildings across the campus while supporting future growth.
Reliable Infrastructure
The plant includes 1,900 cooling tons of chiller capacity with rooftop cooling towers, 28,000 MBH of boiler capacity and an emergency generator system that provides backup power for the heating system. Underground and tunnel-distributed utility piping connects the facility to multiple buildings across the campus, delivering heating hot water to existing facilities and cooling to several new buildings.
Learning Through Design
The facility was also designed as a learning environment, featuring a mezzanine classroom overlooking plant operations and large glass viewing areas that showcase the building’s infrastructure systems. Color-coded piping throughout the facility enhances system identification while providing educational value for visitors and occupants.
Coordinated Delivery
Constructed within an active campus environment, the project required extensive coordination among multiple project teams working simultaneously across the site. Through careful planning and collaboration, the team successfully delivered critical infrastructure while minimizing disruptions to ongoing campus operations.
