McCownGordon announced two key promotions in its Kansas City region today. Scott Kimzey, who leads preconstruction for the Kansas City Business Unit, was promoted to Vice President, Preconstruction and Chris Martin, a 20-year veteran of the company, was promoted to Vice President, Business Unit Leader.

With nearly 30 years of industry experience, Kimzey led the preconstruction team in the Kansas City region for McCownGordon for the last several years as a senior director. In his 13 years with the firm, he’s directed the preconstruction efforts for a large array of clients ranging from The University of Kansas Hospital Proton Therapy Building and the South Dakota State University Animal Disease Research & Diagnostics Library to North Kansas City school district projects and the University of Kansas Central District Development.

“Scott is a natural leader with deep industry expertise, a collaborative approach with trade partners and unmatched market knowledge,” said Chris Vaeth, senior vice president, Kansas City Region. “Under his leadership, our preconstruction team has grown exponentially and focuses on providing tangible value to our clients, ensuring their projects are built with the highest quality, safety and timeliness while also providing cost-saving solutions that provide clients with meaningful budget options.”

Martin, who joined the company in 2003 just four years after its inception, found a unique niche for civic and municipal clients, as well as higher education, corporate work and sustainable construction. As an executive leader, he leads some of the most significant and complex projects for McCownGordon.

“Chris played a significant role in the company’s growth over the last 20 years,” said Vaeth. “He plays an integral role in leading project teams to achieve success. His decades of experience and natural leadership skills, along with his focus on building long-term relationships, means clients and team members value the expertise and collaborative approach he brings to every interaction.”
