McCownGordon continues to add talent with extensive construction operations experience to its growing Wichita team. Craig Thompson, P.E., LEED AP joined the firm as its new vice president of Field Operations. Thompson brings more than 30 years of operations experience to the team, including a diverse background of executive construction oversight, design and consulting experience, and direct project management and personnel development.

Formerly with a leading national construction company, Thompson’s vast experience in the central United States will provide valuable benefits to McCownGordon as it continues to expand its footprint in the Wichita and surrounding areas, including in Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.

“Craig’s deep wealth of experience throughout the Midwest in leading operations execution, client relationships, staff development and management, will provide additional operational and business management expertise to our team,” said Todd Knight, senior vice president and regional leader of the company’s Kansas Business Unit. “We were also impressed with his background and leadership in the self-perform arena. He brings a very well-rounded skill set to our Kansas team that is grounded in building strategic partnerships with our clients.”

Thompson’s background includes experience building and leading teams in a wide variety of vertical markets spanning commercial office, retail and mixed use, as well as more advanced facilities including medical facilities, industrial and distribution centers, data centers and historic renovations.

He places an emphasis in community involvement, including taking on leadership roles at the Design Build Institute of America Mid-America Region, Rotary International, and a local food pantry in his former hometown. This aligns well with McCownGordon’s philosophy of giving back in the communities where its associates live and work.

Thompson is a graduate of the University of Wyoming where he earned a B.S. in architectural engineering with a structural emphasis. He’s a licensed civil engineer and LEED accredited professional.
