MTN ranks in the top 10% of Organ Procurement Organizations in the country. The project is replacing the existing Organ Recovery Suite and adding a Donor Care Unit (DCU) that will provide an on-site recovery facility for organ, eye and tissue donors.
Through early collaboration, Hoefer Welker and McCownGordon provided MTN Governing Board comprehensive design and cost options, allowing board members confidence to select the plan with the best value and outlook for the organization. Our team brought on mechanical/plumbing and electrical trade partners early in the design process to facilitate design through building discovery and early budgeting. McCownGordon was able to ensure the design by verifying locations of existing structural cross-bracing through x-raying the existing walls. This dictated locations of openings in the new design. McCownGordon provided a complete cost breakdown to avoid the costly change orders—sometimes in the millions—MTN had encountered on previous projects. By having everyone at the table eliminated confusion and focused the entire team on addressing goals and challenges concurrently.
This was an occupied renovation with multiple tenants, therefore a multi-phase project. We are maintaining the existing Organ Recovery Suite and other operations as well as coordinating mechanical and electrical shut downs during the renovation. The McCownGordon team prioritized communication with the owner in order to minimize these disruptions.
