The two-story building centers on a spacious day room, where abundant windows provide natural lighting to a television lounge area and kitchen. The first floor is also home to a training room, weight room, bathrooms and four apparatus bays where high ceilings make room for the trucks. The second floor houses 10 bunkrooms, three offices, eight bath and shower areas, and, of course, slide poles to the first floor for quick response.

Designed with sustainable features, the building was constructed with a load bearing precast structure of insulated wall panels. The resilient material, which features exposed aggregate concrete on the exterior, allowed fast construction and now a visual interest of variegated color and texture. The metal roof follows a long, gentle radius. Built to stand up to tough treatment, the facility interiors feature masonry walls, epoxy flooring in the dayroom and kitchen, and exposed concrete flooring elsewhere.
