The Troost campus received extensive renovations to the classrooms, instructional laboratories and faculty offices. Labs feature state-of-the-art technology to house the school’s robotics and computer integrated machining and manufacturing. The facility’s MEP infrastructure was also completely overhauled with a focus on sustainability installing a high-efficiency VRF mechanical system as well as additional insulation to existing exterior walls.
With a strong focus on diverse trade partners, our team took a systematic approach encouraging awareness, education and participation. This proven approach resulted in 115 MBE/WBE bids received and 29% MBE and 19% WBE participation across the three campuses.
The team took a proactive approach to equipment verification. Ensuring power requirements matched the design documents and all equipment was roughed in properly required extensive coordination. The team held several meetings with the engineer and electrical contractors to review the existing equipment and current setup and receive cut sheets of the equipment. With the existing equipment being used for classes, McCownGordon helped develop and implement an equipment relocation schedule coordinating the electrical disconnect, relocation, and placement. To not impact the teaching schedule, all of the equipment was successfully relocated over the college’s winter break.
