New construction of the facility included five primary areas: animal research building, hooved stock barn, storage/shop garage, hay barn and caretaker house. A portion of the existing facility components were relocated to the new site including a research trailer, agricultural fencing, site utilities and waste management.
The 19,000 square-foot animal research metal building is equipped with administration space, research support space, animal holding areas and procedure rooms, feeding storage and greyhound space including pens and exterior runs. Specifics to the research portion of the facility include cage wash, chemical, PPE, feed storage, feed preparation, sterilization, pharmacy and laundry areas.
