The new Welcome Center’s modern design engages the younger generation helping the university attract the best and brightest in the ever-competitive recruiting race. Potential students are greeted in Traditions Hall, which features a variety of interactive displays and selfie stations that help paint a picture of what being a Jayhawk can be like.
The west exterior’s metal fabric fins functionally act as sunscreens, but architecturally represent rural Kansas’ iconic wheat stalks. The Welcome Center also includes a large lobby, multiple event and presentation spaces and a catering kitchen that can accommodate 200 guests. In addition to the new structure, the team is completing multiple renovations at the adjoining Adams Alumni Center.
