To accommodate recent growth, a new elementary school was necessary for North Kansas City Schools. McCownGordon was chosen to construct the new Davidson Elementary School which increased capacity from 400 to 700 students, nearly doubling the capacity of the original school.

The new school was built directly behind the existing school and includes classrooms, dining/cafeteria areas, bathrooms, a gymnasium, offices and a storm shelter. The school was built with precast panels and features a modern design with windows and skylights to maximize natural light.

The McCownGordon team faced challenges building so close to the existing elementary school, but overcame these challenges by working closely with trade partners and the school principal to ensure safety and minimal disruption to their day.
