McCownGordon was selected as the construction manager to build a new forensic science center for the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) on the Washburn University campus. Selected early in the design process, McCownGordon worked hand-in-hand with PGAV in the preconstruction phase to create the best value for KBI. The three-story, 100,000 square-foot center replaces their existing facility that no longer met current space or technological demands. Spaces within the science center include evidence storage, decontamination, biology, DNA, toxicology, chemistry, firearm/toolmark, latent print, document/graphics, trace evidence, digital forensics and vehicle processing.
