About Our Wichita Office
Wichita is a growing city nestled in the beating heart of this country. Surrounded by the great rural land of Kansas, Wichita combines big city amenities with a small town feel and the strength of Midwestern values. Known as the Air Capital of the World, more business jets have been built in Wichita than anywhere else.
We opened our Wichita office in 2019 in response to client demand. We are focused on engaging with the Wichita community and communities throughout Kansas, northern Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

Friends University | Higher Education
What was originally built as the Westside YMCA, most recently served as Friends University’s home to the Athletics Department, Garvey Gymnasium and the Art Department. McCownGordon is renovating the space to serve as a modern athletic department for 23 men’s and women’s athletic teams. The project includes a new main entry lobby, administrative offices, team meeting room, weight room and new athletic training center. Student athletes make up a large portion of Friends University’s student population and this major facility improvement will assist in the recruitment and support their growth.

Patterson Health Center | Healthcare Construction
Patterson Health Center in Anthony, Kansas was a great success for McCownGordon’s Wichita team. We performed preconstruction, collaborative delivery and building information modeling services when partnering with two critical access hospitals: Anthony Medical Center and Harper Hospital District #5.
We came together to deliver this new innovative critical access hospital that will transform rural healthcare with state-of-the-art medical technologies. Patterson Health Center anchors the healthy campus that promotes wellness for patients and surrounding communities.
The project features a clinic with 22 exam rooms connected to the critical access hospital. It boasts an Integrated Care Team clinic delivery model for its care providers. This hospital provides a needed resource to the rural community southwest of Wichita.

Derby Public Schools | K-12 Construction
For Derby Public Schools’ $100M+ school bond in 2018, McCownGordon took on the role of construction manager at-risk, the entity responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project. Starting with the preconstruction phase, we analyzed phasing and scheduling to maximize the new facility needs and reduce student disruption.
There were 18 separate ongoing projects within the school bond. However, our comprehensive budget tracker kept everything organized, even while working in active schools.
Derby Public Schools are such a major part of the Wichita-area community, and we could not be more excited about the work we’re doing and the relationships we are building.

It also features a guaranteed maximum price early in the process, keeping things on budget. We are also a premier provider of the Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) delivery method, which provides a higher level of transparency and efficiency for construction projects across the midwest.

When it comes to construction, safety is the name of the game. McCownGordon’s Experience Modification Rate is lower than the overall industry average because we always provide a safe working environment. We’ve had nearly 2 million work hours without a lost-time incident.
