McCownGordon Construction adds business unit leader
James Isom joins firm as Vice President

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 9, 2020) – James Isom has joined McCownGordon Construction, the expanding Midwest-based construction firm, as business unit leader in its Kansas City headquarters. Isom brings nearly 20 years of experience in construction management, design-build and leadership to the new role. In his previous role at a nationally ranked firm, Isom provided leadership and management for his market with a specialized focus in commercial construction.

Isom will work side by side with the company’s other business unit leaders to provide exceptional customer service, innovative solutions to provide value for our customers and work as part of the Leadership Team as they continue to move forward with their long-term strategic plan. His nearly two decades of experience will further the skills of McCownGordon’s team and help expand the scope of business.
The addition of Isom as Business Unit Leader completes a series of key executive level hires that McCownGordon has completed in the last 2 years, as the firm prepares for its next decade of growth.
Deeply involved in the Kansas City community, Isom serves on the Civic Advisory Council for Park University and was previously the Vice President of Board of Directors for the National Institute for Construction Excellence. Isom has been distinguished as part of the ICSC 20 under 40 Class of 2016 and BD&C 40 under 40 Class of 2019. He is also a member of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Centurion’s Leadership Program Fall Class of 2020 and is LEED AP certified. Isom received his B.S. in Construction Science and Management from Kansas State University.
