Manhattan is a lot more than a borough in New York City—around these parts, Manhattan is synonymous with Kansas State University and the amazing community surrounding it. This small, thriving city is also near Fort Riley, a US Army post.
When McCownGordon Construction opened the doors of its Manhattan office in 2014, we knew it was a good move. Manhattan had been recently rated by Forbes as the number one “Best Small Community for a Business and Career.”

K-State Office Park Phase II | Corporate Construction
K-State Office Park Phase II. We performed building information modeling, safety work, preconstruction services, and collaborative delivery processes for Phase two of K-State Office Park. This project included the addition of a three story building to reinforce the university’s mission to be a place for innovation and collaboration.

Clay County Medical Center Addition and Renovation | Healthcare Construction
McCownGordon collaborated with HFG Architecture to complete the addition and renovation of the Clay County Medical Center, a critical access hospital in Clay Center, Kansas. We performed safety, preconstruction, collaborative delivery, and building information modeling services on the project. We completed all renovations within and adjacent to a fully operating hospital. Our extensive coordination ability and detailed communication enabled the medical professionals to keep operations smooth and uninterrupted.
The renovation includes a new surgery suite, labor and delivery rooms, patient rooms, a new main entrance and lobby. Updates were also made to the existing imaging suite, lab, offices, and support areas.

Flint Hills Discovery Center | Cultural Construction
The historic Flint Hills are one of Kansas’ most iconic and beautiful natural landmarks. Manhattan’s Flint Hills Discovery Center inspires people to celebrate, explore, and care for this 250 million year old band of hills. McCownGordon provided safety, preconstruction, collaborative delivery, and building information modeling services on this project. The scope included site development for the facility as well as an outdoor park and exhibit areas.
The Center includes a lobby, museum store, cafe, core exhibit areas, flexible temporary exhibit areas, exhibit support areas, community rooms and an immersive 4d theater. There is also a cylindrical glass tower with a glass elevator, offering 360-degree views of the prairie and Manhattan.

It also features a guaranteed maximum price early in the process, keeping things on a budget. We are also a premier provider of the Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) delivery method, which provides a higher level of transparency and efficiency for construction projects across the midwest.
