Constructed in 1967 and purchased by KU in 1981, the residence halls have seen extensive use and minimal improvements. McCownGordon teamed with the University to provide preconstruction and construction management services to renovate Tower A. The 72 apartment-style units were renovated for durability, with long wearing materials like vinyl tile flooring and laminate kitchen counter tops. Exposed duct work and electrical systems contribute to an open, loft-like feel. The team also improved the aesthetic appeal of the open spaces and basement laundry room, and increased security with a card-reader access system.
