McCownGordon was selected to assist Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences with exterior improvements to the Academic Center. The project included exterior building improvements and installation of an illuminated exterior feature sign. Construction was completed on an active campus requiring strict adherence to safety and field coordination, and mitigation of noise and disruption.
The exterior improvements project proved to be extremely challenging. Construction was completed during normal working/academic hours requiring our team to work around the University’s daily schedule and operations. The building was occupied by medical students on a daily basis with the main lecture hall 20 feet from where the demolition and re-installations crews were working. The construction and installation of new materials also took place outside one of the university’s busiest classrooms. The team was proud to complete the project with zero noise complaints and no delays to construction.
