McCownGordon Construction recently teamed up with LM2 Construction as part of the city of Kansas City’s mentor protégé program. The program partners larger businesses with smaller and newer businesses, specifically in the construction industry, to help them grow by sharing knowledge, expertise and processes that lead to success. McCownGordon’s main goal is to provide LM2 Construction the tools to succeed long term through leadership, networking and development.
“Here at McCownGordon, we’ve always been committed to giving back to the community,” said Chris Stanton, vice president of preconstruction at McCownGordon Construction. “We’re really excited about helping McCall’s small business continue its growth and success.
LaTasha McCall is the owner of LM2 Construction, currently in its third year of business. She has more than 20 years of experience in the construction industry. LM2 Construction is a construction management company and self performs finish trim and painting. McCownGordon is working with LM2 at Lincoln Middle School, where it has the carpentry package. McCall, who started the business and manages the work as well as the business development, hopes to achieve several goals through the Mentor Protégé program. Initially, McCownGordon will help LM2 by working with McCall to hire a Project Manager/Estimator, which will free McCall’s time to grow the business. She’ll also look to McCownGordon to provide some best practices in business development, as well as assistance identifying and obtaining a project management software solution.
McCall stated that she was honored when McCownGordon selected her company for this opportunity. Having similar core values made this an easy choice for working together. At LM2 Construction, their slogan is: the Most Important Things We Build Are Relationships. “I am humbled by the opportunity to be mentored by one of the largest and most well-respected construction company’s in the greater KC area,” said McCall. She appreciates that McCownGordon places the same high value on relationships not only with their clients and partners, but the broader community.
