Health care continues to make up a larger slice of commercial real estate in Kansas City as local architects and contractors building not only massive hospital towers, but also prepare for surgical centers, micro-hospitals and wellness-centered developments.
At McCownGordon Construction LLC, CEO Ramin Cherafat said the company has more health care work now than ever in its history, totaling about $350 million, with about two-thirds of that in Kansas City.
"The economy's been doing well for a long time. Our industry has been doing well," he said. "But health care has outpaced those areas."
